Privacy Policy

Your thoughts are yours alone.

Privacy is not a feature we added; it is the foundation upon which Journal - From Me is built. We believe that for a journal to be a true sanctuary, the user must have total ownership of their words.

Journal - From Me marketing screen describing the app as local-first and private by default.
Our Stance

Architecture as a guarantee.

Most apps treat privacy as a set of permissions. We treat it as an architectural choice. By building a local-first system, we ensure that your most intimate reflections never touch a server we control. We don't want your data, and we've built the app so that we can't have it.

User Content

You own every word.

Journal - From Me is designed to be a closed loop. The content you create—including handwriting on iPad, typed entries on iPhone, and Note Pad reflections—is stored directly on your device.

No App Accounts

We do not require a sign-in to start writing. You are not a "user ID" in our system; you are the owner of your device.

No Central Database

Clairos does not maintain a central database of your journal entries. Your reflections exist only where you put them.

Infrastructure

Private sync through trusted paths.

To allow your practice to move between iPad and iPhone, we leverage the infrastructure you already trust.

iCloud & CloudKit

If enabled, your data syncs via your private Apple iCloud account. This means the "bridge" between your devices is managed by Apple, not by Clairos.

On-Device First

Sync is an enhancement, not a requirement. The app is fully functional in a completely offline state.

Practicalities

Limited, transparent interactions.

To provide specific capabilities, the app interacts with a few narrow external services. These are strictly one-way or managed by third parties.

Daily Prompts

For Yesterday, Through You, the app requests the day's prompt from the Clairos journal API. This is a "fetch" request; the API provides the prompt to you, but it does not receive your response.

Payments & Subscriptions

All subscription handling for Yesterday, Through You is managed via Apple StoreKit. Payment details are handled by Apple; Clairos never sees or stores your credit card information.

Local Notifications

Reminders are handled by your device's local notification system.

Sensors

Minimalist access.

We only ask for what is necessary to make the tool work.

No Tracking

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs to monitor your behavior.

No Invasive Permissions

The current version of Journal - From Me does not require access to your microphone, camera, or contacts.

Zero Social Layer

There are no public profiles or social feeds. Your sanctuary remains a sanctuary.

The Fine Print

Transparency and control.

Data Deletion

Since your data is stored locally and in your iCloud, deleting the app or clearing your iCloud data removes your content. Clairos cannot "delete" your data for you because we never had it.

Policy Changes

If we ever change our architecture or add a service that requires data collection, we will update this policy and notify you plainly within the app.

No. We don't ask for those permissions.
